What’s New at Gesher Galicia? by Dr. Steven Turner - October 29, 2023
JGSLI board member Dr. Steven Turner was already curious about Galicia as a small boy, when he spent the holidays davening at a Galitzianer shul in Brooklyn with his grandparents. He is now president of Gesher Galicia, a 1,500+ member organization devoted to Jewish research in Galicia, a region that for about 150 years was a province of the former Austrian Empire. Steve described recent efforts to revamp the Gesher Galicia website and he highlighted for us its many valuable feature, including the All-Galicia Database, records, inventories, the Galicia Town Locator, an award-winning Map Room, and the Rabbi Kolesnik Collection. Member benefits include the Galitzianer, a quarterly journal, and access to the Gesher Galicia Family Finder, podcasts, and downloadable documents.
