 ynagogue in Ivano-Frankivsk\, Ukraine formerly Stanisławów\, Poland. Rab
 bi Kolesnik was born in Ivano-Frankivsk after his family was resettled eas
 t from Russia. After the fall of the USSR the building that housed the syn
 agogue was returned to the Jewish community (1992) and Rabbi Kolesnik beca
 me the spiritual leader of the congregation. The Stanisławów district wa
 s one of the most densely populated districts with Jews in all of Galicia 
 and interwar Poland. Now\, as the only Rabbi in the district\, Rabbi Koles
 nik has responsibility for all the Jewish cemeteries and mass grave sites 
 in the area. In addition\, he has an extensive collection of genealogical 
 and Holocaust records in his study. Gesher Galicia is currently categorizi
 ng this collection in order to make it available to the community.</p>\n
