JGSLI Reference Collection

Our reference collection at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library is housed in a dedicated bookcase near the Reference Librarian's desk. The library is located at 999 Old Country Road, Plainview (516) 938-0077. Our holdings include the Arthur Kurzweil collection.

Tips and Tricks

At every monthly meeting, a new tip or trick is announced. Members are free to share either at the meeting or on our Facebook site.

The Mishpocha Mavens are on hand before every meeting to help, and many members are active on our Facebook group.

Plainview Family History Center

The Family History Center, located at 160 Washington Avenue, Plainview (516) 433-0122, contains many city directories and microfilms of census data, ship's manifests, etc. and computer access to many restricted digitized microfilms . It is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10AM to 2PM and on Thursday evenings from 7PM to 9:30PM; Saturdays from 11am to 3PM.  The center is closed the third Saturday of each month. The Plainview Family History Center holds 10 books specific to Jewish Genealogy (provided by the JGSLI). Ask about them when you visit.

The Holocaust Memorial and Educational Center of Nassau County

The center, located at 100 Crescent Beach Road, Glen Cove (516) 571-8040, is open Monday thru Friday 9:30AM until 4:30PM and Sunday 11AM thru 4PM.

Ancestry.com - Subscription site which is one of the largest online repositories of genealogical and historical records. Especially helpful for large-scale record collections such as census records, passenger records, etc.
